"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself"
-John Dewey
Hello, and welcome to my site, my teaching portfolio, my work in progress!
My name is Rama Kadri and I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University
(GO GREEN!), who double majored in both English and French for Secondary Education, and who absolutely cannot wait to make an impact on the field, as well as on the students who will undoubtedly inspire, impact, and teach me as much as I ultimately hope to teach them.
I approach teaching in a way that seeks to expand upon what is taught in "traditional" English Language Arts and French classrooms by striving to assure that my pedagogical practices are both relevant and dialogic. I fervently believe in the immense power of students' voices, cultures, and experiences
--their funds of knowledge-- and hope to always keep them at the center of my curriculum. I believe in the power of stories and dialogue. I believe in expanding upon students' views of the world through discussions that push the boundaries of what they know and think. I believe in allowing students to grapple and explore aspects of literature, and in turn, of their identities not only as individuals, but as human beings living in the ever-evolving and extremely diverse world that we all live in and contribute to. I believe that in doing so, I will be able to bring my future classrooms to life. This portfolio thus highlights many of the ways in which I have both begun and hope to continue to do just that, as I hope will be apparent as you explore this page :).
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, and I hope that you enjoy what my page has to offer!
